Mim Paquin – is a fourth-generation American opera singer who is quickly being recognized as Louise Guinther of Opera News describes “a brilliant soprano.” As a dramatic lyric soprano, Mim has already developed a reputation for having a passionate and heartfelt vocal quality that can move audiences to tears. She also possesses a natural highly charismatic stage presence, making colleagues, audiences and reviewers take notice.

A relative newcomer to the New York opera scene, Mim's recent solo appearances include: Forest Hills Choir, soprano soloist Schubert Mass in G; Opera For Humanity featured artist in a benefit solo recital To Love and Dream in A Fall Garden and in a Holiday Benefit Concert directed by Beth Greenberg (NYCO) and conducted by Gregory Buchalter (MET). Other appearances include: world premiere of composer & conductor Michael Conoly's “If You Were Coming in The Fall” with West Village Chorale; New Bedford Symphony Orchestra's annual holiday concert titled Hear the Cheer!; Cape Cod Chamber Ensemble's New Year's Celebration; “Nellie Forbush” in South Pacific with The Orchestra of the Bronx with Lehman Stages.

Her extensive oratorio and concert experience and repertoire includes: Verdi Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Schubert Mass in G, Fauré Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Great Mass in C minor, Haydn’s Creation, Handel's Samson, Beethoven's 9th Symphony and compositions by a dear family friend, the late Dr. C. Alexander Peloquin.

Mim's prepared operatic roles are: Mimì in La bohème, Nedda in Pagliacci, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Countessa in Le nozze di Figaro, and Sophie in Werther. Her growing operatic repertoire includes: Angelica in Suor Angelica, Manon in Manon Lescaut, Desdemona in Otello, Anna in Anna Bolena, Violetta in La Traviata, Manon in Manon, Magda in La Rondine, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, and others.

Mim is originally from New Bedford, Massachusetts, more specifically the Paquin family home, where she was exposed to a daily onslaught of classical orchestral music thanks to her audiophile, artistic director, classical music audio-engineer, father, Pierre A. Paquin. As a multifaceted artist, Mim has an extremely well-rounded performance background starting at age 4 in the musical production of The King & I, and since performed in over 20 fully-staged musical productions with orchestra: great foundation for any musical performer.

Prior to focusing exclusively on opera and classical vocal performance, she developed her skills and professional performance reputation as an all-round musical & theater actress with the ability to dance (tap, ballet), as well as an award winning character voice-over actress. In tandem with that, she developed her professional skills as a singer/songwriter and composer all the while further developing her musical proficiency playing piano, guitar, bass and drums. As any life-long colleague can attest, she began honing her skills as a stage and music director, as well as choreographer, all while still attending high school. Since classical symphonic and choral music was always a constant in Mim's life, it was very natural and logical for her to make the final vocal transition exclusively back to opera. In doing so, she followed in the steps of two great grandmothers (one with Chicago Opera; one with Boston Symphony Orchestra & as a New England Conservatory Voice Teacher,) two grandparents and her parents: all of whom were/are classically trained vocalists and passed down their love of classical music to the next generation.

Ms. Paquin was a full-scholarship recipient to The Boston Conservatory; she is the youngest recipient of both the 1992 first-place and 1991 fourth-place Massachusetts Broadcasters Awards for classical radio programs and commercials for WFCC on Cape Cod, MA; her classical music film-score for the film-short The Observer (click here to view film) was a featured finalist in the 2004 Nantucket Film Festival; from 2003 – 2005 Mim was the music director of the Youth Rock Mass at Saint Anthony’s Church in Oceanside, NY. She is also a member of the National Pastoral Musicians Association and has had the life-long pleasure of singing a variety of different mass settings in different churches and denominations all over New England and New York, including working as soprano section leader and soloist at her "second home" Saint Luke's Church in Forest Hills, NY from 2006 to present.

An old vaudevillian at heart, Mim enjoys making people laugh with her physical comedy, outrageous characters and wry humor. She is truly surprised that her chosen field is opera where most of the characters she plays die.

Mim currently coaches with Mr. Gregory Buchalter.

Mim has been living in NYC since 1999. She and her husband tenor, Jason Robinette, are the proud parents of their beautiful little boy Zephyr Thomas Robinette.
